The Winner Stands Alone

This is from my blog entry of 2nd January, 2012.

And it was worth the risk I took. Including the sacrifices.

For No One

Away from home
As I take the morning bus to work everyday
Through forests, rivers, wild bushes and hills,
Old villages, rugged people, some children, innocent smiles
There stands one rock, firm and still.
Drenched from the morning dew
Glistening from it the morning light
Alone it stands.

Away from home
Away from the woman I loved
Away from all the dreams of becoming a writer
As I watch the rock everyday
It reminds me
Of myself.

Thousands of years it has been
And there are more to come
Still it waits.
Under morning dew, with the yellowish Sun
With rivers, wild bushes and unknown flowers
Perhaps...
For no one.

Once... there was a young man

Somewhere deep down in south India, on a dark rainy evening, a bus ran through a forest. The drenched, murky evening made the loneliest creatures sitting inside the vehicle moving at its highest speed look haunted. The closed windows reflected the rain from its glasses, which would hinder any visibility of the outside nature to the occupants.

It was one of the forests in southern part of Andhra Pradesh government. Evening was late, and there was forecast of a cyclone. The neighbouring states were in terrible condition, affected by the same. The ill-fated vehicle had its last trip to complete, for the day, and had gathered enormous speed, power and courage in its old but experienced tyres. It was dark, it was wet, but it continued to roll on its four to move towards a destination thirty kilometres away.

A young man sat at the end of the bus, occupying the right corner of the back seat, enjoying the ride. Not from this part of the country, he was. He had, however a feel of the East, with him. Curled eyebrows, wide forehead and a steep nose with a fair complexion. His eyes were fixed on the direction of the rain, which were reflected from the windows, making watermarks across the glass. His leaps were sealed, and most of his hair fell on his forehead, to give him the look of a vagrant, though it was evident from his clothes and dignity that he held a significant post in a respectable institution.

However, it was unclear as of what could possibly be going through in his mind that moment. It was unlikely that he had left a woman back in his place for a promise, or a duty... though could not be ruled out. 'A soldier perhaps', a fellow passenger remarked, seeing his confident look and the backpack beside him. But nobody amongst the few passengers knew what he truly was. And then they stopped guessing altogether.

It was really a bad evening for everyone.

The young man, sitting at the corner thought about his life back home, about the windows he used to sit all day and watch people, when he was a boy. About the beautiful lake he left behind in his town, unforgettable sunsets in the riverbanks and the woman he loved, a long time ago.

The wind started blowing harder. The rain too, increased its momentum. And the lights from the vehicles coming from the opposite side of the road increased its circumference against the glasses to be magnified to his eyes... only to lit them up for an unknown reason.

"What a beautiful world this is." He remarked.

Being Raanjhanaa..

The name 'Raanjhanaa' derives from Ranjha from the story of Heer-Ranjha. It's addressing someone you love. And is used preferably for a male.

Have you ever been someone's Raanjhanaa? Truly?

The streets of Varanasi, the little things that Sonam did, the way she put the black dupatta around her face while riding the scooter with Dhanush, the festivals shown, the Ganges...everything, every possible thing reminded me of only one person. The girl who came from Varanasi, and then one fine day I met her.

And by now Most of us know who she is.

The fact that I watched Sleepless in Seattle and Raanjhanaa back to back days has made me a kind of 'never-been-such-romantic' thing. And add to that I'm leaving the city tomorrow. Maybe forever. And this could well mean that the last time we met, five years ago, would be the last time we met, for this lifetime.

Whoaah..! I have written much. :)

Take care people. While a hopeless romantic guy roams around taking his chances deep down in south India. This is your writer signing off from the no-private room. I guess the time really came when I succeeded to get rid of the confinement I was in.

Tum Tak !

Because his life starts with one glimpse of her, each of his day starts with taking her name in his lips, every moment of his life is written in the breath of her.

It's not only because the storyline has a very quite, sublime yet strong as eternal love story just for the fact that it is set upon the backdrop of such an ancient and ever-romantic place like Varanasi, but it's also because in some ways I find Varanasi close to my heart, is the reason why it attracts me. And the song itself in some ways, defines me... and the way my life has moved forward.

Wait. What?

A novel is on the cards. And it is not Friday.

Blah blah blah...!

Will it really happen? Will I be able to finish it? Will it be marketable?

Hmph... Give me a year and I'll see what I can do.

The Call

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never
Been this way before

All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

The Dark Knight Rises

Watched 'The Dark Knight Rises', after a long time it released. Yes, well... I kind of AM a bit of laters.

The whole point of being a loner, is not that you find peace in dejection, loneliness, failed hopes and wandering of a past that haunts you like a ghost... but it is something more. That you have a chance to come back. That there are opportunities lying out there waiting for you. That there will be a time, and it will come, very soon, when people will need you, more than ever... and that will be your time.

And that time will come. Sooner than you can imagine.

Perhaps!

You won't admit you love me.
And so, how am I ever
To know, you always tell me
Perhaps.. perhaps.. perhaps.

If you can't make your mind up
We'll never get started
And I don't wanna wind up
Being parted, broken hearted

So if you really love me
Say yes, and please don't tell me
Perhaps.. perhaps.. perhaps.

Perhaps!

Ask me about being famous

Cases of editing continue

Another example how to create a multi-layered picture in GIMP.

1. Build the base. I have used 12 cracks brushes to build the base of this picture. You can try texts, figures, buildings, silhouette, blood drops anything you want.

2. Build the main theme of the picture. I've used figures and stuff for this one.

3. Add extra touch. Using more brushes. Use colours wisely as they define the mood of the picture.

And then here you have, a whole picture built from gimp brushes.

My Love, Forever

She looked beautiful. Although her mascara stained eyes told me she had cried, moments ago.

And then I see a shadow hiding in the dark.

‘You look lovely’, I say, as we make way towards the restaurant. She smiles briefly, but doesn’t answer.

She doesn’t talk much, throughout the dinner. An unmindful soul, she has turned into.

On the platform, as we wait to catch the last train, I see a man coming towards us.

‘Go away.’ She cries out. ‘I don’t love you…’

The man keeps looking at her, with his watery eyes. He gets down in front of her on his knees. He murmurs, but doesn’t talk.

She covers her eyes and says those words again.

He’s a middle aged man, with dirty outfit and a rugged look on his face, begging something to her putting his hands together in front of him.

‘I love this man now’ she points towards me, gasps in silence and continues to weep.

The December wind blows now. It brings the chills from the south and makes me shiver. The lonely platform is looking at me in surprise. The distant signal turns green now. Our train is coming.

I hold her hand and pull her towards me. She weeps, weeps hard.

The train enters the platform now.

I look at the man. He is still on his knees.

‘I am sorry. I really am. But it wouldn’t have worked between us.’ I touch her chin.

She looks at me in surprise.

‘I don’t love you. I never did’ I say, as I look into her eyes.

I board the train as she stands there, stranded.

‘Go get your love.’ I shout to her, as the glass door shuts in front of me.

Goodbye my love, forever.
